My name is Boryana Yordanova, and I am from Sofia. I define myself as a mother, a wife, a yogi, a former gymnast, and a passionate nature lover. Before returning to my hometown, I spent the past 13 years in New York. I know exactly what it’s like to live in a constant imbalance between body and mind, under continuous stress. I worked two jobs and constantly struggled to keep up with the pace of the big city. I believed that my self-worth was defined by my productivity. This lifestyle made me feel anxious, disconnected from my body, and detached from my environment. My mind and consciousness were completely out of balance, driving me toward emotional collapse.
When yoga and I found each other, my life transformed! Not because I stopped working or left behind the busy urban lifestyle, but because I began restoring the connection between my physical and mental selves. When our bodies are capable, strong, flexible, orderly, and cleansed, our minds become the same. Yoga provided me with practical tools and techniques for navigating life more skillfully.
The human psyche is complex. It is filled with feelings, beliefs, attitudes, and associations. Our bodies define our material presence in the “here and now.” They are what we can physiologically influence—physically manipulate, shape, and change. And since our minds and bodies are inseparably connected, through this powerful practice of embodiment, we can reshape our minds to become more open and joyful. Yoga doesn’t mean being constantly kind and loving—it is a practice that teaches you to be powerful. The choice to approach life with kindness and love is itself a powerful one.
Since 2018, I have been a Yoga Alliance certified RYT 200 teacher through Sky Ting Studio in New York. I have also completed a 100-hour Katonah Yoga training. My classes are structured around asanas, breathwork, meditation, and embodying yoga as an entire philosophy. The main practices I use are rooted in the traditions of Katonah Yoga, Daoism, and Hatha Yoga.
